How to Make a Pumpkin Spice Latte
It's the 1st October and to mark International Coffee Day and the month we all associate with pumpkins!— we decided to make our first Pumpkin Spice Latte of the year.
International Coffee Day is a reminder of the many trades that have been adversely affected by this year's crisis—with the battering the world has endured and the storm it is still to weather, it is more important than ever to support small businesses and of course our beloved coffee shops. The purchase of a simple coffee from your local café, shop or patisserie is at the end of a long supply chain, beginning at the heart of the coffee farming industry—vital in supporting families and communities across the world. So next time you pass your local coffee shop, grab a coffee... or better still a Pumpkin Spice Latte if it's on the menu!
If you'd like to try making your own, here's our recipe—it's easy, takes about 10 minutes and is pretty much Autumn in a cup!
(Makes one drink, multiply as needed)
- 3/4 cup Coconut milk
- 1/4 cup water
- 2-3 tbsp Pumpkin Purée (not pumpkin pie mix!)
- 1/4 tsp ground Cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp ground Ginger
- Pinch of each: ground Nutmeg, Allspice, Clove & Cardamom
- Pinch of freshly ground black pepper
- 2 tsp Maple Syrup
- 1 shot Espresso coffee
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- Coconut whipped cream
- Pumpkin pie spice
Did you know the little man on the side of this iconic coffee maker is a caricature of the founder's son, Renato Bialetti, and represents the visual jolt of caffeine as well as the visceral impulse to order another beverage. He’s found nearly everywhere in Italian homes and restaurants; described as: “L’omino con i baffi”—the little man with the moustache!
